SZA marked the two year anniversary of her hugely successful album SOS by offering an update on the arrival of the deluxe edition of the 2022 project. In a clip shared on Instagram on Monday (December 9) SZA squats in the woods to pee while a song that appears to sample The Isley Brothers' "Voyage To Atlantis" plays in the background. At the end, the title Lana appears above SOS Deluxe. The caption reads, “Clock starts now . Happy anniversary.” Check it out below.
Establishing the difference between Lana and SOS Deluxe has been an ongoing issue for SZA, who will spend time in 2025 on tour with Kendrick Lamar, and her fans. Initially she claimed they were two different projects, assuring her followers in March that while Lana wasn't quite ready for release, the deluxe edition of her latest album, comprising leaks and outtakes, would drop "ASAP." That didn't end up happening and the latest teaser suggests the two projects are now one. More recently, SZA told streamer Kai Cenat that Lana was coming before the end of the year, describing it as “a whole new project” that people have yet to hear.
No release date has been confirmed for Lana. The FADER has reached out for more information.
