Julia Holter confirms Something in the Room She Moves album details
Holter will also tour around the relese of her latest project.
Julia Holter has announced details of her first album in over five years. Something in the Room She Moves will be released on March 22 via Domino and features the single "Spinning." You can see a video for that song below. In addition to "Spinning," the album also includes the 2023 single "Sun Girl."
Something in the Room She Moves is Holter's sixth album and her first since 2018's Aviary. Press materials accompanying news of the album note that the album was written partly in response to the loss of loved ones, including her young nephew, to whom the album is dedicated. Holter's partner, musician Tashi Wada, plays synth and bagpipes on the record.
"There’s a corporeal focus, inspired by the complexity and transformability of our bodies," Holter says in a statement. "I was trying to create a world that’s fluid-sounding, waterlike, evoking the body’s internal sound world."
Since releasing Aviary, Holter has moved into the world of film, providing the scores for Never Rarely Sometimes Always and the 2020 Karen Dalton documentary In My Own Time.
Additionally, Holter has announced a 2024 tour in support of Something in the Room She Moves that begins in May with a show at Los Angeles venue El Rey. All dates and venue details can be found below.
