Nicki Minaj becomes the female rapper with the most No. 1 albums in history
Pink Friday 2 has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Nicki Minaj has broken a chart record with her new album Pink Friday 2, which has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart. That makes the album, released on December 8, her third chart-topping album and the first time a female rapper has achieved the feat. Minaj was previously tied on two No.1 albums with Foxy Brown.
Pink Friday 2 sold 228,000 equivalent album units in its first week on sale. That includes 169.87 million streams and marks the biggest sales week for a female rapper in the current decade. The album also sold 25,000 copies sold on vinyl.
Minaj previously hit No.1 in 2012 with Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded and the year prior with her debut studio album Pink Friday.
Shortly after releasing Pink Friday 2, Minaj announced details of a world tour. The 2024 shows begin in Oakland in March with the North American leg running until mid-May. The tour will then transfer to Europe.
