Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign's joint album will be released on Friday, December 15, according to a statement West made in Miami during an impromptu playback over the weekend. The FADER has reached out to reps of both artists for comment.
A collaborative project from Ye and Ty Dolla $ign has been rumored for many months now, with reports in October claiming the pair were playing the album to people in Italy and were seeking a label to distribute the finished product.
Ye was in Miami this weekend and footage of his various party appearances in the city has been shared across social media. In one clip he is shown playing a new song that samples Backstreet Boys' 1997 single "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)." Evian Christ, the U.K. based DJ and producer who worked on the Yeezus sessions a decade ago, said on Twitter that he had produced the Backstret Boys-sampling track. Reached for comment by The FADER, however, his publicist said: "This is not genuine. Evian Christ is not producing for Kanye West."
The day prior Ty Dolla $ign shared an album tracklist on Instagram.
On Sunday night (December 10) Ye played a collection of new songs at a club in Miami, debuted tracks that feature Quavo, Young Thug, Future, Nicki Minaj, and more. He told fans that the album is titled Vultures and will be released this coming Friday. "Vultures" appears on the back of a jacket he has been pictured wearing in recent days and is also the title of a song featuring Lil Durk that dropped in November.
Additionally, Playboi Carti posted a screenshot of a text message inviting him to a party in Miami on Tuesday. He is also among the artists featured on the new music played out in Miami over the past few days.
Ye and Ty Dolla $ign artists last collaborated together on Donda track "Junya Pt.2" in 2021. Ty Dolla $ign dropped his latest solo single "Motion" back in June.
Should the album be released this week, it will be Ye's first album since the rapper and producer made multiple baseless antisemitic remarks in late 2022. Adidas and Def Jam both ended their working relationships with him following the comments, as did Balenciaga, the talent agency CAA, his lawyer, and a film studio with a completed documentary on the artist.
