In his latest EP release, Lover/Friend, KAYTRANADA proves again his ability to imbue a certain luxury into everything he does. The release comes as a stylistic continuation of his work in innovating and elevating production across funk, electronic, house, R&B, and more.
The title track, “Lover/Friend,” melds laidback instrumental pulse with silky vocals of R&B and pop singer Rochelle Jordan, while the second track, “Stuntin,” features Channel Tres, playing up the rapper’s rich timbre and subtle sensual beat. The EP also includes instrumental versions of both songs.
Earlier in the year, KAYTRANADA teamed up with rapper Aminé to release their quasi self-titled album KAYTRAMINÉ, a happy amalgamation of the duo’s combined musical charm and rhythmic wizardry. His previous collaborations have seemingly no end, the star studded cast including Pharrell, Kali Uchis, Snoop Dogg, Alicia Keys, Anderson .Paak and more.
