This year's Latin Grammy Awards took place in Seville, Spain on Thursday night. Rosalía opened the show with a cover of “Se Nos Rompió El Amor” by the late Rocío Jurado. Check out her performance below.
Other artists who performed at this year's Latin Grammys included Peso Pluma, Bizarrap, Rauw Alejandro, and Shakira.
The decision to host this year's ceremony in Spain, the first time in 25 years that the Latin Grammys have been held outside the U.S., was part of a multi-million dollar deal between The Latin Recording Academy and the Andalusian government. The Academy's CEO Manuel Abud told NPR that the controversial move is part of a long-term plan which, he hopes, will see the ceremony switch between taking place in the U.S. and overseas in alternate years.
Shakira and Karol G were the big winners on the night, taking home three prizes each. Karol G won album of the year for Mañana Será Bonito. "This album changed my life, and it’s incredible that it’s changed the life of so many people," she said during her acceptance speech.
Song of the Year and Best Pop Song, meanwhile, both went to Shakira for her "Bzrp Music Sessions, Vol. 53." "TQG," the collaborative single from Shakira and Karol G won best urban/fusion performance while Joaquina took home Best New Artist.
