Megan Thee Stallion has dropped a heavy rock remix of her latest single "Cobra". The updated version features Spiritbox, a Canadian metal band made up of guitarist Mike Stringer and vocalist Courtney LaPlante.

The guitar solo in the original version of "Cobra" gave some indication as to the possibility of Megan leaning into a heavier sound and this remix pushes that further. The riffs are heavier and LaPlante delivers a chorus that taps into the same snake as a metaphor for regeneration idea.

"Leave me alone in the dark/I am shedding my skin/I need to harden my heart/To protect myself but the pain remains within," she sings. Check it out below.

"Cobra" is the first release from Megan since Tory Lanez was sentenced for shooting her in a 2020 incident. She appears to detail how the fallout from that incident, and the subsequent court case, affected her mentally.

It also represents Megan's first release as an independent artist. She recently revealed she is no longer signed to her former label 1501 Certified Entertainment. The new single arrives via her own Hot Girl Productions.

The new single and remix follow Megan's Cardi B collaboration “Bongos” and her contribution to Dicks: The Musical, "Out Alpha the Alpha." Last year she released Traumazine. Spiritbox's lone studio album, Eternal Blue, was released in 2021.
