Fabiana Palladino and Jai Paul have shared a new song titled "I Care" via Paul Institute / XL Recordings. The two artists wrote and co-produced the song, which will feature on Palladino’s forthcoming debut album. It is the first new music either artist has shared in three years. Palladino is a solo artist and member of Jai Paul's live band. In a statement, she said: "I wrote this song on my Juno 106 one night at home and played it to Jai the next day. He instantly came up with a beat and we worked together on the track from there. I’ve always loved those Motown duets with Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell, or Diana Ross and wanted to create a modern version of that. We’re playing with the way those duets have this quite clear notion of romance, love and relationships…we’re subverting that a little to explore normativity in relationships. Musically, we’ve tried to put all of the beauty, excitement, and tension of modern day love into this song."
"Waiting," Palladino's last single, was released in 2020 via the Paul Institute. Prior to that she released the "Mystery" and "Shimmer" in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Jai Paul, meanwhile, last relased solo music in 2019 when he put out "Do You Love Her Now."
This year marked Jai Paul's first live shows, with the enigmatic artist making his stage debut at Coachella in April. Dates in Europe and North America soon followed. There are four dates remaining on his live schedule for the year, two in Europe and two more in Australia. Fabiana Palladino will make her debut headline appearance in London on February 7 next year.
