Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg has left the band after a decade. The news was announced on Sunday with a statement from the band thanking him for his time spent with them. His last show came just two days before at the Hell & Heaven festival in Mexico.

Weinberg joined Slipknot as the replacement for Joey Jordison in 2013. Jordison cited "personal reasons" for leaving the band and later revealed that he had been diagnosed with a form of multiple sclerosis. He died in his sleep in 2021, age 46.

"We would like to thank Jay Weinberg for his dedication and passion over the past ten years," Slipknot wrote in their statement. "No one can ever replace Joey Jordison’s original sound, style or energy, but Jay honored Joey’s parts and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band, and the fans appreciate it. But as ever, Slipknot is intent on evolving. The band has decided to make a creative decision, and to part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited for what the future holds."

Weinberg made his debut on Slipknot's 2014 album .5: The Gray Chapter and also played on the subsequent We Are Not Your Kind, and last year’s The End, So Far. Weinberg, who was also once a member of Against Me!, has yet to comment on his departure.

This marks the second departure of a Slipknot member in 2023 after keyboardist Craig Jones left after 27 years in the band this June
