Machine Gun Kelly has reacted after footage of him giving an unusual interview at the Brazilian Grand Prix went viral on Sunday. The rapper turned pop-punk star was at the Formula 1 event when he was approached by Sky Sports presenter Martin Brundle. He approached him by the side of the starting grid and asked him how his career was going. MGK began playing with the commemorative poppy pinned to Brundle's shirt and said “I don’t think about my career.”
Brundle replied by saying “Well good luck with it, whatever you do”, before changing the subject. However, MGK switched things up by asking the presenter to give him his "best air guitar." Brundle declined, leaving the musician to give the camera a thumbs down before walking away.
Brundle laughed off the encounter saying, "Something tells me I won’t be on his Christmas card list." The presenter has experience in this field, having carried out similarly difficult chats with Cara Delevigne and Megan Thee Stallion at previous F1 events. His job is, essentially, to accost celebrities who attend the races and put them on live TV. It's not surprising that some people act a little strange from time to time.
When footage of the interview was put online, some Twitter users began to make fun of MGK for his behavior and the strange vibe he was giving. Defending himself from those commentors, he replied by posting: "My vibe is “the worst” how? because someone put a microphone in my face essentially forcing me to do a random interview when I was just trying to enjoy an event? because car engines were so loud I couldnt hear him? please tell me more about why I’m the worst."
He later added: "My anxiety has won. I hate being in public."
Brundle also commented on the interview. He shared an image of MGK and his partner Megan Fox alongside Megan Thee Stallion. "Finally, my claim to fame, I’ve met two of these three people. I do appreciate them taking some time out on the grid for our great sport," he tweeted. "I hope they didn’t find me too weird.."
