"Cobra" is the first release from Megan since Tory Lanez was sentenced for shooting her in a 2020 incident. She appears to detail how the fallout from that incident, and the subsequent court case, affected her mentally.

"Breakin' down and I had the whole world watchin'," she raps in the opening verse. "But the worst part is really who watched me. Every night I cried, I almost died. And nobody close tried to stop me. Long as everybody gettin' paid, right?"

"Cobra" also represents Megan's first release as an independent artist. She recently revealed she is no longer signed to her former label 1501 Certified Entertainment. The new single arrives via her own Hot Girl Productions.

“Cobra” follows the Cardi B collaboration “Bongos” and Megan's contribution to Dicks: The Musical, "Out Alpha the Alpha." Last year she released Traumazine.
