Kenneth Petty, who has been married to Nicki Minaj since 2019, has been placed on house arrest after violating the terms of his three-year probation, Rolling Stone reports. Petty faces up to 120 days of home detention after he "was recorded on video making threatening remarks to a specific individual while in the company of someone with a criminal record.” It is believed that the individual in question is Offset.
On Saturday, September 16, video of Petty outside a hotel in New York where Offset was believed to be staying went viral. In the clip Petty was heard saying, "Plan that vacation, you gonna be planning your funeral, pussy." Offset responded to the threatening remarks, posting his own video in which he said: “I’m getting off a jet. He’s funny.”

This is in violation of Petty's three year probation, agreed upon in July 2022, when he was sentenced to a year under home detention after failing to register in California as a sex offender. Petty was convicted for the sexual assault of Jennifer Hough in 1995 at age 16.
The filing states that Petty’s probation officer “believes placement in the Location Monitoring Program will effectively allow for closer monitoring of Mr. Petty’s activities, limit his movements, provide a sanction for his non-compliance, and hopefully encourage him to reflect upon and reevaluate his current status in the community.” Petty, who did not appear in court, agreed to the punishment.
In 2021 Petty and Minaj were named in a lawsuit from Jennifer Hough, though Minaj was later dropped from the suit.
