Bar Italia are a band who began with a super low-key status, releasing music sporadically via Dean Blunt's World Music label and largely keeping their indentity a secret. That led some to speculate whether they were a real band at all, or merely a moniker used by Blunt himself to share some seriously '90s indebted indie rock. However, earlier this year the trio revealed themselves and signed to Matador, releasing their critically-acclaimed debut Tracey Denim earlier this year.
Today the band has announced details of the follow-up to Tracey Denim. The second Bar Italia album of 2023 is The Twits and it will be available on November 3. The album's lead single, a scratchy and clattering punk track titled "my little tony," is streaming below. It comes with a video filmed at a bustling house party. According to press materials, The Twits was recorded over eight weeks from February 2023 in a makeshift home studio in Mallorca.
Bar Italia are on tour across the U.K. and Europe from the end of this month. In December they will play their first full North American tour, including a show Bowery Ballroom in New York on December 4. See below for the band's upcoming schedule.
