Tory Lanez will have to appear in court tomorrow (September 14) at 10:30 a.m.PT, legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff reports. Lanez has filed a request for bail as he waits to appeal his felony conviction in the 2020 shooting of Megan Thee Stallion. Last month, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

In late August, a new lawyer, Crystal A. Morgan, filed a motion asking for Lanez to be released on bail so that he can continue to work and live in Los Angeles to support his son and new wife who "heavily rely upon him for care."

It also stated the rapper "does not pose a danger to the community" and the shooting was an "isolated incident where he was intoxicated." The motion says he will remain sober and not have any contact with Megan moving forward.

Entertainment attorney Michael Freedman told Cuniff that the chances of the request being granted are slim to none. “Generally, to get bail pending appeal, you have to show a substantial likelihood of prevailing on appeal, which often means a substantial likelihood you can show error by the trial judge. So it’s pretty rare for the trial judge to find the defense can make this showing about the same judge’s own rulings, especially after the judge has already denied post-trial motions raising those same arguments.”
