Yung Lean and Bladee team up on “Victorious”
The new song is one half of a double single, out on August 25.
Yung Lean and Bladee both went from underestimated meme-rap to two widely influential artists. Both rappers maintained a sterling ear for beats and developed their lyricism as their careers progressed — Lean pulling from dreams and diaries as much as classic Atlanta trap, with Bladee the drippy misfit. The Stockholm artists regularly collaborate with each other, and it's usually pretty magical. "Victorious," a new surprise-release single, keeps the trend going, and may even be one of the duo's best songs.
Whitearmor's beat sports an angelic melody pulled from Aphex Twin's Drukqs album, tapped out on a dusty piano with veil upon veil of ethereal synths around it. Quite the ideal setting for both artists to calmy trade bars about their respective triumphs and obstacles, with no small amount of time spent on how much ground they broke. "Victorious" is one-half of an upcoming double single; the second song "Bullets" is out tomorrow, August 25.
