Ms. Lauryn Hill, has announced a tour celebrating 25 years of her solo debut, 1998's The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. She will be joined on the U.S. leg of the tour by Fugees, who will co-headline alongside Hill.
The 17-date tour will hit arenas around the world, including Brooklyn’s Barclays and The Kia Forum in Los Angeles from September. An Australian and New Zealand leg will see Hill supported by Koffee. See below for the full schedule.
Citibank card users will have access to tickets via an exclusive pre-sale from August 22-24. General sale for the tour then begins on Friday, August 25, at 10 a.m. local time.
“The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill is and was a love song to my parents, my family, my people, my musical and cultural forebears, my teachers, my loves, my Creator," Hill says in a statement. "I wrote love songs and protest songs — (still love songs) about the subjects and interests that inspired and moved me. I was confident that what inspired me would resonate with an audience that had been led to believe that songs of that kind could only live in the past.”
She added: “I loved music, I loved people, I truly felt grateful to God for my life, and genuinely blessed to have a platform where I could share wisdom and perspective through music. I felt a charge to challenge the idea that certain kinds of expression and/or certain kinds of people didn’t belong in certain places. I loved showing what could work or happen provided there was imagination, creativity, and LOVE leading the way.”
Fugees last performed together in 2021 (though Pras Michel and Wycelf Jean briefly joined Hill at The Roots Picnic in June). They had been scheduled to embark on a full The Score anniversary tour but canceled the run of dates after first postponing them due to the pandemic.
In April, Pras Michel was convicted of federal conspiracy charges. He faces 20 years in prison after being found guilty of cimes including conspiracy, campaign finance violations, money laundering, illegal lobbying, witness tampering, and acting as an agent of a foreign government without registering as one.
