Kyle Gordon’s viral track gets expanded.

If you've spent any time on the internet in the last few months, you've probably seen the snippet of "Planet of the Bass." The brief clip, created by a comedian named Kyle Gordon under the alias DJ Crazy Times, is a tribute to the Eurodance wave of the '90s — an absurd and fun subgenre that Gordon really got to the essence of. Lyrics like "All of the dream / How does it mean?" are sung by a yearning featured vocalist named “Ms. Biljana Electronica” with Gordon offering the cartoonish raps ("Sex! I'm wanting more) that soundtracked junior high dances across the world roughly a quarter century ago.

After the first skit-length video went viral, Gordon filmed another with a different "singer" (as Stereogum points out, the track's real vocalist is named Chrissi Poland, and she's not in either video). This is something that actual Eurodance artists would do in their music videos, but it still caused a minor furor online among people who are too young to get the joke. However, the song's nostalgia overload proved more powerful than any misguided internet drama.

Now, the full song is out. If the original skit/song made you smile, this likely will as well. And, it has an advantage over most comedy music in that the music is at least as enjoyable as the jokes are funny. It would be something to see if "Bass" actually leads a broader Eurodance revival, but I'd personally rather everyone just add the song to their gym playlist and move on. Hear it below.
