Travis Scott will not face criminal charges in Astroworld trial
A Texas grand jury has cleared Scott and the Astroworld 2021’s other organizers of criminal wrongdoing surrounding the crowd crush that killed 10 people at the festival.
A Texas grand jury has ruled that Travis Scott, Live Nation, and ScoreMore — the organizers of the disastrous Astroworld 2021 — will not face criminal charges for their alleged roles in the crowd crush that ultimately killed 10 people at the festival, the Houston Chronicle reports. The FADER has reached out to Scott’s attorney, Kent Schaffer, as well as the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, for independent confirmation.
Earlier today (June 29), Schaffer told Reuters he did not expect Scott to be charged, noting that “nothing Travis did or failed to do fits within the Texas criminal code.” While Scott and the production companies that helped him organize Astroworld 2021 won’t face criminal charges, they still face a litany of civil suits alleging negligence, personal injury, and wrongful death.
