Snoop Dogg will not be the next owner of the Ottawa Senators, TMZ reports. The rapper was part of a group put together by Neko Sparks, an entrepreneur based in L.A., to acquire the NHL franchise. The news is disappointing given Snoop's enthusiasm — in a recent Instagram post, he wrote "I WANNA BRING HOCKEY TO OUR COMMUNITY."

Today, the Senators announced that they'd be going with Toronto billionaire Michael Andlauer instead. The TMZ story reports that Andlauer and his backers will be paying about $1 billion as a part of the sale. He's "very excited" to take over as the franchise's next leader. The Weeknd was part of another group seeking to gain a controlling stake.
