Hayden Pedigo shares new single, announces more summer tour dates
“Elsewhere” was a FADER Song You Need, and Pedigo has followed it up with the title track from “The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored.”
Hayden Pedigo may dress like a cowboy, but his compositions don't hit you over the head with their yeehaw-ness. Instead, the acoustic guitarist captures a sort of melancholy yearning that wouldn't sound out of place on the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack. Last month, he announced a new album, The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored, along with lead single "Elsewhere," which we named a Song You Need.
Now Pedigo is back with another single, this time the title track from his upcoming project. "The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored" shares plenty of DNA with "Elsewhere" — both have meandering fingerpicked melodies that wander between folk traditions on both sides of the Atlantic. But according to Pedigo in a press release, "It has a specific feeling I’ve never felt in any of my songs before. It felt like I had finally created a grand work that I had imagined for years."
Pedigo has also announced an expanded summer tour, adding some headlining shows to his dates opening for Jenny Lewis. Check those out below, plus the music video for "The Happiest Times I Ever Ignored," where he plays a DVD guitar instructor.
