The National enlist Taylor Swift for new song “The Alcott”
The cut appears on Dessners & Co.’s new album, First Two Pages of Frankenstein, out today.
The National have shared their ninth studio LP, First Two Pages of Frankenstein. At the center of the 11-track project is a cut featuring twin band members Aaron and Bryce Dessner’s frequent collaborator, Taylor Swift. The song is a lovelorn, piano-folk ballad that blooms into an orchestral, pop-country affair, with Taylor adding floral harmonies to National frontman Matt Berninger’s somber vocal line.
First Two Pages of Frankenstein is out today (Friday, April 28) via 4AD. In addition to Swift’s input, the album includes a contribution from Sufjan Stevens and two tracks featuring Phoebe Bridgers. Watch the lyric video for “The Alcott” above, and stream the full record below.
