Soulja Boy has been ordered by a jury to pay almost a quarter of a million dollars following a lawsuit filed by his former partner. Kayla Myers first sued the rapper, real name DeAndre Way, in February 2019 accusing him of assaulting her and keeping her captive at his home in Agoura Hills, Los Angeles for six hours.

Rolling Stone reports that on Tuesday, April 25, a jury ruled that Way must pay Myers $235,900 in damages for the incident. That figure is made up of $1,800 in “mental health expenses” and $234,100 to cover “physical and mental pain and suffering,” per documents seen by the publication.

In her complaint, Myers accused Way of having “kicked her, stomped on her stomach and bashed her head with a large gun. She then alleges that Way ordered his assistant to take her into his garage and “tie her up with duct tape.” She told the jury she was “wrapped in an extention cord” and, separately, made to shower in front of both men.

This case is separate to a 2021 lawsuit accusing Way of sexual assault and battery, which he has denied.

Earlier this year Soulja Boy was among a group of celebrities, alongside Lil Yachty and Akon, charged by the SEC for illegally advertising crypto.

Soulja Boy’s rep did not immediately respond to The FADER‘s request for comment.
