For the latest taster of his forthcoming album Rat Road, SBTRKT calls upon R&B singer George Riley and longtime collaborator Sampha for a new track titled “L.F.O.” (short for low-frequency oscillator). The experimental soul single follows three previously released cuts that feature the likes of Toro y Moi and Teezo Touchdown. The project is due on May 5th.

“‘L.F.O.’ began with me messing around with an analog synth about six years ago—the track title stuck,” SBTRKT says in a press statement. “The opening chords became my breakthrough moment, which captured that feeling when chords and melodies feel like they float.”

Since he and Sampha started working on the track in 2018, SBTRKT explains, “L.F.O.” has gone through more than 70 versions. The final iteration was confirmed after the producer connected with George Riley late last year. Watch the song’s lyric video below.
