Arlo Parks shares “Blades,” a funky song about building bridges
Parks’ forthcoming album My Soft Machine is out next month.
Arlo Parks has dropped new song "Blades," the third single from her forthcoming album My Soft Machine. The track was produced by Paul Epworth and finds Parks exploring dancier territory than her typical style. In press materials Parks notes the influence of ESG and Kaytranda on the production.
"I wanted to make something that I can dance to, finally, because I feel like my songs don’t really have that quality in general," she explains. As for the story of the song she adds: "I imagine this moment at a party where you see someone across the room that you haven’t seen in a while, you felt yourself growing apart, and you’re like, should I, should I not? And then you find the courage to approach them."
"Blades" follows previous My Soft Machine singles "Weightless". The album is due out on May 26 and is the follow-up to her 2021 Mercury-winning debut Collapsed in Sunbeams.
