Crumb share new track “Crushxd”
The band’s first new single since 2021 arrives less than two weeks before the start of a spring U.S. tour.
Crumb have returned with their first new single since 2021. “Crushxd” is an enchanting, immersive three-minute ride, co-produced by the Boston-originated, Brooklyn-based band alongside Jonathan Rado and Johnscott Sanford. Jonathan Gilad’s technical drumming and Jesse Brotter’s sure-handed, jazzy bass underscore a dreamy one-two-three punch of frontwoman Lila Ramani’s shadowy guitars, her willowy vocals, and Bri Aronow’s expansive synthscapes. The song arrives as Crumb prepare for a spring U.S. tour that kicks off April 25 in Dallas.
“In 2018, we went on our first big US tour,” the band explain in a press release. “We were beginning to write the instrumental to a new song and started playing it live every night. It didn’t have any words yet, just a nice techno groove… On our way to one of the shows, a little turtle appeared out of nowhere and crossed in front of our car — it was crushed instantly. After that experience, Lila wrote the words to the song. The song is a celebration of the turtle’s life, honoring its journey on the road up until its tragic death. LONG LIVE TURTLE.”
