Watch the trailer for the newly restored Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense
David Byrne is back in his iconic oversized gray suit in the new clip.
A new restoration of Jonathan Demme’s one-of-a-kind 1984 Talking Heads concert film Stop Making Sense is underway via A24, the production company announced Thursday (March 16). It hits theaters August 18, alongside a deluxe reissue of its soundtrack (via Rhino) featuring previously unheard takes from the four December 1983 L.A. shows where the movie was shot.
The news comes with a teaser in which former Talking Heads frontman David Byrne picks up the iconic gray suit he wore for the film nearly four decades ago from the dry cleaner’s. Pleasantly surprised at the great condition it’s in after all those years, he bikes home with it, puts it on, and busts out some of his signature goofy dance moves in front of a mirror, at which point the clip cuts back in time to the original footage of those same moves from the movie.
Last year, Byrne contributed with Mitski to Son Lux’s “This Is a Life,” an Oscar-nominated track from the Oscar-sweeping 2022 film Everything Everywhere All at Once (another movie prominently featuring a dry cleaning business).
