Garage has been making its way across the globe, and Manchester's salute is one of the main reasons why. The prolific producer has been touring internationally, remixing some of the biggest names in dance music, and their song "Joy" was even featured on the last season of Love Island UK. Established as one of the main pushers of NUKG (or new UK garage) for their distinctive dreamy sound, salute somehow continues to reconstruct the confines of two-step with every release.
Their newest single, "Wait For It" starts off with thumping breakbeats that guide us into diced-up female vocals that run through each glittering synth. The honey-toned chanteuse comes in, singing, "Daylight, eyes closed / Near you I feel like I'm balanced / Dressed up, high hopes / All that we need is the night to start again." The lyrics cleanly match the song's upbeat, joyous tempo, describing the immersive pleasures of partying all night.
It's not uncommon for salute to complement their melodies with a vocalist, but every release hits just as hard as the last. The musician's ability to take a fleeting feeling ("All night, wе keep waiting just to feel good") or a simple experience ("Can't find my coat / All that I need is the light to find my way") and capture it in a song is unmatched.
