The Los Angeles Police Department has arrested two suspects, an unnamed 17-year-old and a 32 year-old-woman named Shauntel Trone, in the shooting death of Rakim Hasheem Allen, the rapper and singer known as PnB Rock. The news was first reported by TMZ and confirmed in a press statement. The teenager is charged with murder and Trone faces a charge of Accessory to Murder.
The teenager’s father, Freddie Lee Trone, is also named as a suspect but has not been apprehended as of press time. The LAPD considers him armed and dangerous.
According to the police’s timeline, Freddie Trone and his son entered a Roscoe’s Chicken & Waffles location in Los Angeles as PnB Rock and his girlfriend were eating. Rock was shot and robbed of jewelry before the two fled the scene. He was taken to a local hospital shortly after where he was pronounced dead at age 30.
Police are asking anyone with information on Freddie Trone’s whereabouts “to contact South Bureau Homicide Divisions Detectives Nellie Knight or Matthew Clark at 323-786-5146.” Anonymous tips can be left with the LA Regional Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (800-222-8477).
Following his death, PnB Rock was honored with a resolution passed unanimously by the city council of his hometown, Philadelphia. “He definitely represented a generation of young people that need help when it comes to issues of trauma around gun violence,” Councilman Malcolm Kenyatta said on September 15, “when it comes to the issue of providing them opportunities, but most importantly, making sure they have a voice and a seat at the table.”
The final full-length project of PnB Rock’s lifetime, SoundCloud Daze, was released in January 2022.
