A$AP Rocky doesn’t think the Rolling Loud memes are funny

A$AP Rocky’s headlining performance at Rolling Loud New York this past Saturday (September 24) didn’t go as planned. The following day, he tweeted an apology to his fans. “I am so hurt right now!,” he wrote. “Last night was supposed to be a turning point in my live shows from the old to new! I will take full responsibility for the circumstances of what led to last nights show being everything it was and everything it wasn’t.”

Later Sunday evening, hip-hop commentator DomisLive NEWS tweeted footage of Rocky in dire straights after stage diving into the mosh pit. The video has since gone viral, with his friend Tyler, the Creator stepping into the role of lead troll, posting a photo of a birthday cake with a screen grab of the Harlem rapper’s distraught facial expression apparently printed on top in edible icing.

Rocky, however, seems to find the memes that have arisen from the 10-second clip less hilarious than the rest of the internet. “That shit not funny , sum lil bih was squeezing life out my nutz b,” he commented on a blurry screenshot of his frantic face posted to Instagram by The Panic Room alongside the text “When She Keep Sucking.”

Rocky’s Rolling Loud New York set included three new tracks: “Grim Freestyle,” which has existed in the ether for nearly two years but is still yet to be released on digital streaming platforms; a snippet of “Riot,” another unreleased song featuring Pharrell and Tyler which he debuted in July at Rolling Loud Portugal, and “Sights,” a new joint track with fellow Rolling Loud guest Playboi Carti, produced by Surf Gang’s Evilgiane, dropped earlier this month and never played live before this past weekend. He also played his 2015 hit “Lord Pretty Flacko Jodye 2” and 2017’s “Telephone Calls,’ and brought out GloRilla to spit her summer smash “FNF (Let’s Go).”

In April, Rocky was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in connection with an alleged November 6, 2021 shooting. He pleaded not guilty to two felony charges relating to the case in August and is currently out on bail awaiting trial.

Rocky and Rihanna welcomed their first child into the world back in May. This past Sunday, a day after Rocky’s ill-fated Rolling Loud set, Rihanna was announced as the Super Bowl LVII Apple Music Halftime Show’s headlining performer.
