Lil Tjay has shared his first new material since surviving a near-fatal shooting earlier this year. "Beat The Odds" tackles the shooting, which took place in June in Edgewater, New Jersey, while the self-directed video features footage of him recording the track from his hospital bed. Tjay was one of two victims shot at a shopping center in the June incident. He was taken to the hospital and underwent successful emergency surgeryto treat wounds to his lungs, neck, and chest.
Earlier this week he shared an update with fans, stating: "I just want to say thank you for the love, thanks for the support. Seven shots, it was tough... Most people don’t survive it, but I’m here, here for a reason. New music coming soon, we’re going to come back stronger than ever.”
A 27-year-old named Mohammed Konate was arrested in connection with the shooting. He was subsequently charged with three counts of attempted murder, three counts of armed robbery, aggravated assault, and weapons-related offenses.
