Listen to the new, posthumous Young Dolph track “Hall of Fame”
Paper Route EMPIRE released the track today to honor the late rapper’s 37th birthday.
In the eight months since Young Dolph was shot and killed in his hometown, the Memphis rapper’s imprint Paper Route EMPIRE has continued to honor their deceased leader. His signees and associates have shown up to pay him respect by performing his music at his public memorial service and Rolling Loud California, and releasing the eight-track tribute tape Long Live Young Dolph in January. In April, Gucci Mane dropped “Blood All On It,” which featured a previously unreleased Dolph verse. But “Hall of Fame,” out today, is Dolph’s first official posthumous single.
The new track, which arrives on what would have been Dolph’s 37th birthday, is a stone-cold solo cut with a money-over-fame message. “Frank Matthews of the south / Put me in the hall of fame,” he monotones over a taut, string-heavy Bandplay beat. “Add it to my bank account / Bitch, you can keep the fame.”
