Eric Holder Jr., the man accused in the 2019 murder of Ermias Asghedom a.k.a. Nipsey Hussle, was found guilty of first-degree murder today (July 6), the New York Times reports. He will face sentencing in the future and could spend up to life in prison.
Hussle was shot and killed in the parking lot of his Marathon clothing store in Los Angeles on March 31, 2019. Several eyewitnesses placed Holder at the scene, saying that he got into an argument with Hussle before going to his car and returning with the two handguns used in the murder. Holder's defense team argued that while their client killed Hussle, the death was not premeditated.
Holder was arrested and charged with murder, attempted murder, and possession of a firearm by a felon days after the killing and pled not guilty. The trial began in June, with the jury spending less than an hour deliberating before handing down its verdict.
In 2020, Nipsey Hussle won two posthumous Grammys: Best Rap Performance for “Racks in the Middle” and Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy Award for DJ Khaled’s “Higher" featuring Hussle and John Legend.
