My Chemical Romance have shared their first new material in over eight years. "The Foundations of Decay" arrives ahead of a summer of live dates for the band, who reunited in 2019 only to have their comeback tour postponed by the global pandemic. Gerard Way and co's North American tour begins in August. They are booked to perform at festivals inlcuding emo nostalgia summit When We Were Young, plus Riot Fest and Firefly.
Clocking in at over six minutes, "The Foundations of Decay" maintains MCR's love of the ostentatious. It is produced by Doug McKean, Gerard Way, and guitarist Ray Toro. The last time the band released original material was "Fake Your Death," the sole new song on 2014 hits collection May Death Never Stop You. The band's last studio album was 2010's Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys.
