Just over ten years ago, Ab-Soul and his creative collaborators Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, and Jay Rock broke rap open as the faces of the then-nascent label Top Dawg Entertainment. T.D.E. is now a behemoth, but Ab-Soul has kept a relatively low profile in the six years since sharing his fourth solo album Do What Thou Wilt. Tonight, (Thursday, April 21 at midnight) he'll share "Hollandaise," his first new solo song in two years. Listen to a snippet in the announcement Instagram post below.
Not much is known about an upcoming Ab-Soul album, other than that the rapper has been working on it for awhile. He promised during a performance in 2019 that the project would be released in 2020, saying "I been cookin’ the bird up slow.” That year, obviously, came and went with no new LP.
