Despite being dropped from the Coachella lineup, Travis Scott did manage to make it out to the desert.
This past December, the rapper was removed as a festival headliner after a deadly crowd surge killed 10 people and injured dozens more at Astroworld. Since then, Scott's remained pretty quiet. However, TMZ now reports that he appeared near the polo grounds at Bootsy Bellows’ Coachella afterparty in the nearby town of La Quinta.
According to the outlet, Scott did a relatively low-key set around 3 a.m. on Sunday morning, performing five of his big hits and taking over the DJ decks. A source also told TMZ that "people were super excited" to see him play the afterparty and that "everyone was dancing and singing along."
However, the surprise performance will likely be the closest he gets to Coachella, seeing as how Kanye West — who previously said he would bring Scott as a special guest during his set — dropped out of the festival a couple weeks ago.
Last month, Scott played a similar set at a small pre-Oscars house party, which was the first time he performed since the Astroworld tragedy. Other than that, he's continued to stay under the radar, save for four billboards seemingly tied to the release of a new album, which recently popped up on the I-10 highway near the Coachella festival grounds and read "Psst. Looking for Utopia? Wrong way!"
