Lil Silva and Sampha share “Backwards”
Listen to the latest effort from the U.K. producers and vocalists.
Lil Silva and Sampha appear together on "Backwards," a new release from the longtime collaborators. The two London-based artists have previously appeared together on songs including 2011's "On Your Own" and "Salient Sarah," released in 2014. Last year both artists lined-up together on serpentwithfeet's "Fellowship."
Speaking about the song in a statement, Lil Silva said: "'Backwards' is the feeling of alienation and constantly venting in a matrix you find yourself inside, whatever that may be… Restricted and feeling guilty to move forward, constantly going backwards mentally… I guess the song is about being in a never ending cycle and the heaviness that can bring on you…It’s a metaphor for that."
Lil Silva last released an album as part of OtherLiine, a collaborative project with fellow producer George Fitzgerald. Their self-titled album came out in 2020. Sampha, meanwhile, released his album Process in 2017. More recently he appeared on Mustafa's When Smoke Rises song "Capo" in 2021.
