The xx’s Oliver Sim makes solo debut with “Romance With A Memory”
The new single comes with a ghoulish video featuring Drag Race stars.
Oliver Sim of The xx has shared his debut solo single. "Romance With A Memory" was produced by Sim's bandmate Jamie xx and comes with a horror-inspired video featuring drag artists Charity Kase, HoSo Terra Toma, Gena Marvin. Check it out below.
“I’m thrilled, excited, ecstatic, overcaffeinated and overjoyed to be sharing ‘Romance with a Memory’ with you all,” Sim said in a statement. “Terrifyingly, this is the first song I’ve ever released under my own name, I really hope you all enjoy it. Produced by my dear older brother Jamie xx. I’ve also made a compilation of some of my favourite monsters, killers and queers getting down. I hope both the music and monsters make you feel as happy as they make me—I cannot tell you how much joy it brings me to watch a ghoul having a good time.
Sim added that he is "still very much in a loving and happy relationship/band with Romy and Jamie." Earlier this week The xx announced details of an upcoming Apple Music show, Interludes.
The xx's most recent album, I See You, was released in . Since then Sim's bandmate Romy Madeley-Croft has released 2021 solo single "Lifetime" and,earlier this year, appeared alongside Fred Again... and HAAi on "Lights Out." Jamie xx's solo album In Colour was released in 2015.
