Last month Fontaines D.C. announced plans to release new album Skinty Fia. Today they return with new song "I Love You," an impassioned track described by frontman Grian Chatten as “the first overtly political song we've written.” Check it out below.
"I Love You" comes from the perspective of an Irishman abroad and comes with a video that culminates with Chatten standing in a church with bloody hands and delivering his lyrics direct to camera. “It's standing in the centre of our beloved home country as a multitude of things are brought to tragic ends in an apocalyptic state of affairs," he says in a statement. "That's how it feels to me, and what I felt when I wrote it.”
"I Love You" is the second track lifted from Skinty Fia, due April 22, and follows "Jackie Down The Line." The album will be Fontaines D.C.'s third after 2019 debut Dogrel and 2020's A Hero's Death.
