Pink Siifu’s “Gumbo’! 4 tha Folks, Hold On” video is an ode to old-school living
The track is the opener of Siifu’s latest album, Gumbo’!
Pink Siifu has shared a music video for "Gumbo'! 4 tha Folks, Hold On," the opening cut from his most recent album, August's GUMBO'!. The song introduces five supporting members of the ensemble cast the Birmingham-born, Baltimore-based rapper/singer/producer recruited for the 18-track LP, bringing it a pastoral, cinematic energy: Nick Hakim, Big Rube, Liv.e, and V.C.R bless the track with instrumental and vocal layers, with DJ Harrison holding down the production.
The new video — which follows September's visual treatment for "Big Ole" featuring bbymutha — is an ode to all things vintage. Siifu smokes a seemingly endless spliff, spins vinyl on an old-school record player, hosts a dinner party, lies in bed with his pregnant partner, and kicks back in a lush garden, all without a trace of 21st-century technology.
