James Blake shares “Funeral” video with new verse from slowthai
Friends That Break Your Heart is out now.
Last week, James Blake shared his latest studio album Friends That Break Your Heart. The tracklist sported features from the likes of SZA, J.I.D., and others, but nothing from slowthai, who enlisted Blake on last year's "feel away." Today, Blake has dropped off an updated version of the track "Funeral" with a verse from the U.K. rapper.
The song's — ahem — funereal soul vibe may not sound like something you'd expect to appeal to slowthai, but Blake told us for last week's FADER Interview podcast that it's what he wants out of his features. "I like people who are interested in the sonics as well," he said of collaborations, "like interested in experimenting and seeing what we could do that's new that people might not expect.
The new version of "Funeral" is available on all streaming platforms, and you can also hear it in the music video above. Both Blake and slowthai appear in the black-and-white clip, a single shot visual depicting a funeral procession stuck in time. Check it out above, and listen to Friends That Break Your Heart here.
