Grimes has released a new song called "LOVE" exclusively on Instagram, as Pitchfork reports.
In the post's description, Grimes says "I wrote and produced this song this week in response to all the privacy invasion, bad press, online hate and harassment by paparazzis I’ve experienced this week.” Last week, Elon Musk told Page Six that he and Grimes had "semi-separated" after three years of dating. In May 2020, Grimes gave birth to a son, named X Æ A-XII.
Given that context, it's not surprising that "LOVE" is a direct rejection of celebrity culture and an unreserved reflection of its effect on Grimes' mental health. You can hear it in the video below, which stars Grimes in a variety of costumes.
