The first trailer for Licorice Pizza, the new movie from writer/director Paul Thomas Anderson (There Will Be Blood, Phantom Thread, Boogie Nights) is here. The film stars Alana Haim, one-third of the sibling pop group HAIM, as Alana Kane, and Cooper Hoffman as Gary Valentine. The cast also includes Sean Penn, Bradley Cooper, Tom Waits, and Benny Safdie.
According to the film's website, “Licorice Pizza is the story of Alana Kane and Gary Valentine growing up, running around and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley, 1973." As for a release date, it's currently listed as "coming soon."
Paul Thomas Anderson and HAIM are long-running collaborators. Anderson has directed six music videos for the band since 2017, including “Summer Girl,” “Hallelujah,” "Man From the Magazine," and “Now I’m in It" from the 2020 album Women in Music, Pt. III, and photographed the project's cover art.
