Pop star and podcaster Charli XCX has shared her new single "Good Ones." First teased at the beginning of August, "Good Ones" is a synthwave thumper designed for exercise classes of the "Call On Me" variety, less experimental than what we heard on her 2020 album how i'm feeling now but no less ear-catching.
"The first single of my new chapter embraces all that my life has to offer in today’s world," Charli wrote in a statement, "fame, glamour, inner demons, and global hits." The music video, streaming above, was co-directed by Charli and Hannah Lux Davis. "The ‘Good Ones’ video sees me dramatically mourning the untimely loss of my partner," Charli continued, "as I battle with the realisation that once again I’ve abandoned the goodness in my life, in favour of the sinister, with a visual aesthetic that marks a new era of me: Charli XCX."
