KAM-BU enjoys a wild ride through his side of London in the flashy and surreal video for new song "Dumpling." The video, which catches Kam spitting verses in the cereal aisle of his local Costcutter store before hitting the west end for a hectic club scene, is premiering above.
Riding a bass-heavy beat courtesy of producer Pablo Pullen, KAM-BU uses "Dumpling" as a canvas on which to flex about his good looks, money-making abilities, quick fists, and the fire that erupts when he steps in the booth. "I'm an alien, used to be a broke kid" he says at one point. "Now I've got the rave all jumping." The song represents a different side to the versatile rapper, who was last heard paying tribute to the Windrush generation on previous single "Black On Black."
The hard-hitting "Dumpling" boasts a similarly flashy video courtesy of director Sekeu Abineri. Switching the action between the street and the club, trippy effects and wild lighting combine to create a feeling akin to time and space melting in real time.
This effect was deliberate, as KAM-BU explained in an email to The FADER: "This song is like having a trip that was probably fucked up, but coming out the other side still feeling on top of the world. The video takes you on that journey, a stroll round the Wild West with Killy tripping balls and spilling juice. Every time me and Pullen get in the kitchen we whip up something different, this was a wavy Friday night. I state I'm an alien because I feel different, out of this world."
