With his new album The Off-Season only days away, J. Cole has turned up for a freestyle with the L.A. Leakers. The beats of choice are "93 Till Infinity" by Souls of Mischief, an early '90s psyche-rap classic, and the brawny Houston sound of Mike Jones' "Still Tippin." Unsurprisingly, Cole sounds great on both of them, despite not having freestyled publicly in awhile. "I forgot what them bitches felt like, I ain't gon' lie," Cole says after pummelling the tracks.
The freestyle was almost certainly pre-recorded since Cole is currently quarantining in Rwanda in advance of his debut this Sunday with the country's national basketball team. The only song we've heard so far from The Off-Season is "i n t e r l u d e," but a short documentary film on the album's creation was released this week.
