Kero Kero Bonito's three-track EP Civilisation II is out today. It's a cheerful listen made compelling by the London group's seamless experimentation with J-pop, video game music, and underground electronica. To celebrate the EP's release, the band have come through with a music video for its second track "21/4/20." Hey, that's today! Dan W. Jacobs's clip visualizes the mythical lyrics with a tapestry adorned with the story. And who said comic strips couldn't be art?
In a press statement, KKB wrote that Civilisation II dives into "lost world art-pop, made entirely with old synthesizers and assorted junk in our quest to realize a fantastical parallel timeline for pop music, with lyrics encompassing religion, our society, and the environment." We previously heard "The Princess and the Clock," a song we really liked, and I'm currently stuck on the supremely weird acid house freakout "Well Rested." Listen to all the tracks below.
