Yves Jarvis and Romy Lightman form Lightman Jarvis Ecstatic Band, share new song
“Elastic Band” is the lead single from the duo’s upcoming debut album Banned, out June 25.
Yves Jarvis and Romy Lightman are two of Canada's most enduring underground artists. Lightman is a member of the experimental duo Tasseomancy with her sister Sari, and Yves Jarvis has shapeshifted through many styles and names before settling on his current alias — his jazzy, lo-fi album Sundry Rock Song Stock was one of our favorite records of 2020. Today, Jarvis and Lightman have announced that they've teamed up for a new band called Lightman Jarvis Ecstatic Band. Their debut collaborative album Banned drops on June 25 via ANTI-, and the lead single "Elastic Band" is out today, as well as its very amusing video. It starts off as a psychedelic CGI bubble bath and ends with the two band members battling it out in a Dragonball Z-style fight. It's pretty appropriate for a meandering, shreddy song about a rocky relationship. Watch below.
