The Academy Award nominations were announced on Monday, with some of the most diverse nods in recent years. In addition to nominations for Andra Day, Chadwick Boseman, Daniel Kaluuya, Riz Ahmed, and Yuh-Jung Youn, this year also marks the first time two women, Chloe Zhao for Nomadland and Emerald Fennell for Promising Young Woman, are up for the Best Director award. Musicians H.E.R., and Leslie Odom, Jr. are also up for Best Original Song for “Fight For You” and "Speak Now."
