Jlin shares new SOPHIE collaboration “JSLOIPNHIE”
A posthumous song from SOPHIE appears on the Unsound Festival’s album Intermission.
Before tragically passing away in January, SOPHIE teamed up with Jlin, another vital talent in the world of electronic music, for a song commissioned by the Unsound Festival. That song, “JSLOIPNHIE,” is out today.
SOPHIE's collaborations were known to stray away from the pop inclinations that defined the artist's solo output and lean more heavily into the influence from experimental acts like Autechre — see "Liminal Crisis," SOPHIE's song with Juliana Huxtable, for an example. "“JSLOIPNHIE” follows suit, delivering a storm of percussive hits usually found in garage and grime swirled in with a desolate twangy instrument. Listen above.
“JSLOIPNHIE" drops today in advance of the Unsound Festival's Intermission, a project encompassing a book and album featuring other artists like Moor Mother, Nicolás Jaar, Tim Hecker, and more. The book drops today along with the digital version of the album, with a vinyl release coming on April 16.
