Lil Baby emerged from 2020 in a stronger position than ever before thanks to an acclaimed album (My Turn) and a protest anthem that silenced those who criticized his raps as insubstantial ("The Bigger Picture"). His first song of 2021 is "Real As It Gets," a song featuring Kentucky rapper EST Gee. The melody of the song is menacing in a way that recalls underground Detroit hip-hop, and Baby keeps up the vibe with breathless bars full of threats and flexes. That hook is particularly killer, too. In the music video, streaming above, both rappers and their crews enlist a fleet of fancy sports cars to visit the gas station to take pictures with fans.
